hackers.town pager
The hackers.town pager is a pager form factor device that is a clone / fork of the hacker pager originally created by Exploitee.rs. Rev 1.0.0 is an exact clone of their pager electronics design, though the boards will look different and have hackers.town branding on them. Future revisions may diverge from the Hacker Pager, but we will always appreciate the pioneering work the team at Exploiteers have done, and as much as possible our custom firmware - VoidMantisOS - will work on their hardware as well as ours.

VoidMantisOS
VoidMantisOS is a micro-operating system that powers the hackers.town pager. It will also run on the Hacker Pager from Exploitee.rs. The OS runs on the ESP32-S3-Wroom1 MCU, and includes components such as a UI manager, a runtime manager, a power management subsystem, a time management system, an LED Manager, and a storage management system. It handles resource allocation for applications that run, performing setup and teardown of resources based on application needs.
Abbreviated VMOS (which can be pronounced Vamos), it is the brains behind the pager.
Applications
VoidMantisOS comes with a multitude of applications that hackers might find useful.
- Sky-Spy: An application that scans for and detects drones flying in your vicinity. It uses both BLE and WiFi to detect drone ID broadcasts that are required by law (in the US), and alerts you to their presence as well as GPS coordinates of the drone and the pilot. If you use a companion python application on a computer it will plot both locations on a map and let you visually see WHERE the drone actually is in relation to you.
- OUI-Spy: An application that monitors for a specific set of OUIs in BLE and WiFi and alerts you to the presence of devices with hardware addresses that contain those OUIs. This allows for identification of things like Meta Raybans, Axon Body Cameras, Flock Safety cameras, Flipper Zero, Ring Cameras, and more. You can also configure it and add your own OUI's to the monitored list. When you find something you can then use the action button (side button on the hardware) to send it to FoxHunter (more on that later) to locate it.
- Flock-You: Similar to OUI-Spy but dedicated to Flock Safety Cameras (the ubiquitous automatic license plate readers that are being abused by ICE and other law enforcement). Similarly, can be sent to FoxHunter when detected.
- Marauder: The ESP32-Marauder toolkit. We didn't create it, but it is MIT licensed, so we included it. It has a wide range of BLE/BT and Wifi scans, attacks, and utilities.
- Unipwn: An application that can completely pwn Unitree robots due to a flaw in their BLE implementation that has not been addressed. CAN result in complete takeover of the robots.
- FoxHunter: An application that looks for a specific hardware address and then homes in on it letting you know how close or far you are based off RSSI strength. LEDs will flash, buzzer will beep, and vibration motor will buzz at an increasing frequency the closer you are to the target.
- MeshCore: MeshCore has been completely baked in, allowing for sending and receiving messages on public and private channels, plus direct messages. You can import settings exported from the MeshCore companion app, or export your settings from the pager to import elsewhere. You can run it standalone or use the MeshCore companion.
- Roaming Library: A fork of Pr0j3kt B00km4rk, this sets up a captive wifi portal and allows connected users to post on a forum, download reading material in the form of txt, pdf, epub, and other common text file formats. Additionally, the same types of files can be uploaded, allowing for a true pirate library experience.
- Lua Apps! A relatively new development, #VoidMantisOS now has a Lua interpreter built in, which allows for writing Lua Script "apps" that can be interpreted and run on the pager. These apps can utilize the pager hardware like the wifi, BLE, and Mesh radios to do...whatever you want! Since the Lua apps reside in a directory on the sdcard you can load as many as you can fit, and do it without requiring a reflash of the device. This GREATLY expands the world of possibilities with the pager.
The best part, though, is that VoidMantisOS will be open source and available for anyone to use, customize, expand, and enjoy. While I've taken it this far, I certainly hope to see it grow far beyond what I'm capable of and look forward to seeing where it goes.
